How do I find out what my school spends money on?

I want to see how my school spends its money to see if going green would help save money. Like buying locally… How do I find out?

Going green will not save any money and will probably increase expenses as would buying locally.

Request a copy of the operating budget from your local school board – it is a public document and should be made available to you. Good luck! More likely than not you’re going to find out that going green would save lots of money for your local taxpayers!

Look up your school district website. Many put the budget on line. Or you can request one from your school board.

Well, I garuntee that the WONT tell you what they use there expenses on. But if you talk to like your science teacher or your principal you might figure out if you can do a recycling program.

If your school has a Student Representative Council (SRC) or something similar, I would join that.
Usually with those groups, you can sit down with a group of students and a teacher and discuss those types of things.
Your school may even have an environmental committee (mine did), where you can discuss ways of going green. If you don’t have such a committee, why not suggest it to your principal/ headmaster?
