How much you can save depends on a number of things. I would have to know how much you spend on basic needs. But when I do my budget it looks something like this:
                Rent/Utilities- $700
Student Loan- $100
Car Insurance- $56
Gym Membership- $37
Lunches (at work)- $100
Groceries- $200
Gas- $75
Credit Card- $75
Savings- $400
Cell- $60
Short term savings- $50
Car Maintenance- $25
Dining Out- $50

I make a little bit more than you do, but I save $400 a month. The easiest way to do this is open a savings account with ING or some other high interest yielding account and have a certain amount taken out every two weeks. As soon as my pay check hits the bank on Friday, ING takes $200 and puts it in my savings account. Also MSN Money has some great articles and tricks for spending, especially the Women In Red forum.

Hope that's helpful.
